Walkthrough: Chapter 1~2

Chapter 1:
Marshall College

Chapter 1: Marshall College

The museum is quite simple and straightforward. Just proceed until you meet the Latin giant and fight with him.
Since the saving point is very near, it is not a bad idea to die a few times to practice some fighting techniques.

So you have beaten the Latin giant in the museum and cleaned up the museum, and now once more you are here in the museum to collect all notes and collectibles.
Fortunately, doing 100% in the museum is relatively easy compared to other horrible chapters like the marsh terrain in Sukhothai.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

If this is your first time in the museum, let us take the plane and just go to the next chapter, the Vatican.

Chapter 2:
The Vatican

Chapter 2: The Vatican

On arrival, you can discover one guy leaning against a truck in the middle of the night alone.
This is a good time to practice one-on-one hand fighting as you wont find a good saving point to practice fights like this one. Just reload since the saving point is very near.

NameInfo
Name Punch Out I
Type Brawling
Description Restore stamina when an enemy is knocked out.
Adventure Points to Unlock 25
Analysis You will restore stamina only when an enemy is knocked out, which means this will be only effective when you are in one to many fight. Still, we recommend this book as one to many fight will be our major bottleneck.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

You can see two guys are close together. Since this game forces you to do stealth a bit, we do stealth.
The screenshot tells us to throw a bottle to distract one guy to separate them, enabling us to do stealth takedowns one by one.
But it is fine to ditch this technique, and we will explain why.
1. It takes too long to find bottles as we usually discover items only when we are near to them, especially when in the dark.
2. You cannot stock bottles in your backpack, which means your hands become busy once you hold them.
3. The exact trajectory of the flying bottle is not shown, leaving the calculation to you and making you error-prone.
4. Even if you succeed, enemies will quickly go back to their original position. And they will constantly move their heads to make it harder for you to approach them.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

In this figure, you are seeing the only hidden route to go to the upper zone.
Just go forward and take down the enemy and go right. There you see a structure. Use the rope to climb up. Now take a close look at the ledge above you. These climbable ledges are almost always marked with white paint, so dont forget that.
Take a moment to enjoy the Vatican view and use the rope to climb up and go into the small window.
Lets not forget this route as we will use this route one or a few more times later.

NameInfo
Name Lucky Hat I
Type Survival
Description After being knocked out, Indy can pick up his fedora using X, giving him a second chance at the fight. Lucky Hat is disabled while Indys Outfits Fortitude is on cooldown.
Adventure Points to Unlock 125
Analysis A must-have item which enables you to resurrect after death. Just crawl and pick up your lovely hat to get up again. We found that this book is extremely useful in one to many fights as this enables you to engage with even multiple towered riflemans with good confidence. (But you need few upgrades to reduce cooldown to effectively do this) The only caveat is time to crawl is limited and brute enemies that took you down wont easily go away from your death spot, very likely to find and attack you right after your resurrection. However even so, once fully upgraded, cooldown becomes very low and you will never once again truely die and fight like ancient god, the invincible Indy himself. This is the main reason we rate this book 5/5.

Breads and Fruits System

So you have met Antonio, and we are now in his office.
Before leaving, pick up some bread and eat it. They are periodically refilled.
Bread and fruits are different. Bread will restore your health shield, protecting your health bar. Fruits will restore your stamina shield, protecting your stamina bar.
This means there are two types of shields. Health shields are useful if you get hit by guns. On the hardest difficulty, you have a high risk of getting one-shotted by towered riflemen and snipers. But if your shield is full, you will never be one-shotted.
Stamina shields are sadly not perfect. The reason is that you will always see one shield get consumed immediately once you start to run since stamina shields are consumed before consuming the real stamina bar.
But you need to run anyway. Indys worlds are too large to walk only, which is very boring. So this means your optimal full stamina shields bar is not 100%. Optimal should be 70-90%. Also, stock some fruits rather than eating them to fill the shield gauge to 100%.
One last thing is the maximum shield gauge can be increased once the underlying stats maximum gauge is increased. So you cannot reach the true full gauge in the early stages.
Also, there are a few books to merge two health bars into one big one, making it more resilient and recoverable. Upon this upgrade, the corresponding shield bar will also get bigger automatically.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

The Vatican City: Main Courtyard

Welcome to the Vatican City! What you are seeing in the figure is the main courtyard. This is where all roads cross, so its very important to remember every bit of this place.
The door you just came through behind you is the only door that connects Antonios office, library, and the main courtyard. This is very important info as you will be very confused finding junction doors even if you dont do 100% achievements. (The maps in this game dont give you path navigation)
Hint: The fence in the figure is a restricted area even if you are disguised as a priest. There is a small rabbit hole behind the man. You can try your luck to farm a few items even if you are in the early stages.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

There is a very easy puzzle in a tent right in front of the door that connects the courtyard and Antonio.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

This puzzle is probably the easiest one, so revealing the code wont be any spoiler to you.
Hint: You can flip items to see their back.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

The answer code is: 5238
The reward book is not in our priority because its trigger condition is limited. Also, it is expensive to spend 300 points to unlock it in this early stage.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

Teleport Station

What you are seeing is one of the most important things in this game, the teleport station.
It is VERY VERY important to discover these stations scattered across the map with your own eyes. (Their locations are not known on the map until you get close to them)
Luckily, they are easily discoverable and their shape wont change across the whole game. (But in the Sukhothai chapter, its like hell to teleport because you wont get any meaning of local location words...)
It is a good habit to remember all names of locations unless you want to visit all places and waste time.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

In the end of the courtyard, you can see the big Nazi propaganda. You must go to the back of it to find the climbing point and use the rope to go to the 2nd floor.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

There, you can find one of the four main inscriptions Antonio talked about. You must take a picture of this to proceed with the main quest. You must have a camera to proceed. Just go to another area to discover the man who gives you the camera quest.
Hint: The figures in the inscriptions do have meanings to solve one of the hardest puzzles in this game in very later stages.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

If you keep climbing past a Nazi soldier, (You dont need to kill him as he is not harmful) you will find a big secret puzzle room. This puzzle can be quite hard if you do...
Hint 1: Overthinking will only make this puzzle unsolvable.
Hint 2: Keys and clues are always likely to be close together. So straying too far from the puzzle often turns out to be a bad idea.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

Hint 3: The door in the picture has nothing to do with the puzzle, which is confusing.
Hint 4: The two statues in the room also have nothing to do with the puzzle, which was more confusing than the door.
Hint 5: The arts on the walls also have nothing to do with the puzzle! So the only possible answers location will be ...

Chapter 2: The Vatican

Answer: The main lever attached to the puzzle will reveal its side compartment. There you collect your prize.
Now lets move to the unexplored map to discover this man who can give you the camera and who sells some important guide books.
Here you should choose which book to buy. Priority depends on you.
1. If you really want to do 100% achievements, then start with the book that reveals locations of ancient relics as this is the last bottleneck that will make you very upset in very later stages. (They resemble flashlights)
2. If you dont do 100% but still want to see the hidden ending, you also MUST collect all these ancient relics, so the choice is the same.
3. If you like combats but you are having a hard time in one-to-many fights, then the choice will simply be the Medicine Bottles guidebook. You can exchange medicines with combat-related books which permanently boost your max health or stamina.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

This is where you can exchange medicine bottles with health and stamina boost books. We recommend the health book first because if you get killed, it often turns out to be a nightmare.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

High Ranked Fascist

Back again to the main courtyard, there is a high-ranked Fascist who trains lesser soldiers.
He can discover your identity ALWAYS, regardless of your disguise. There are three approaches.
1. Avoid him - Often the best. Just why on earth start tiresome fights with him and his three soldiers? Stealth is the best. (Best only when his sight doesnt block your way for like 30 seconds, which is too boring to wait)
2. Lure him and kill - Could be best, but not always the best. As I said, finding a bottle to lure him itself sometimes feels like hell. And even if you lure him, he will not stray further from his soldiers anyway.
3. Punch him ASAP - Often the best, best only if you are strong enough and prove that you can indeed hold your position like a stubborn knight having fled to your last optimal defense position after you see the officer whistle and see enemies of moss start to flock around you quickly to devour you angrily.
In the hardest difficulty, we recommend you not to punch his face as we are still in very early stages and we simply are not strong enough. Just avoid him.
Later, even in the hardest difficulty, you will have a chance to challenge the enemies of moss. You will of course need good books, like the Lucky Hat I have mentioned.
Take a close look at his head orientation when you do stealth as he moves his body and head a lot, making your stealth harder.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

This is one of four main inscriptions in the courtyard.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

A high-ranked Fascist again. He will make you angry like a mosquito here. Three routes are possible from here.
Right to the barracks, jail, and secret locked door that needs the BlackShirt Key. We recommend you dont go right until you meet a man who gives you a quest to rescue a boy named Sidney in the jail of the barracks. Left upper to the place where the mystic dragon figure stands.
Left down to the guard post and garden. Later you can pass this guard post. There is a teleport station nearby. There is a main inscription that you can take a picture of in the garden.
Pro Tip: There is a Nazi poster on the wall right to the left of Indy in the picture. You can burn this poster with a lighter and get some points. Later you can buy a lighter from a merchant in chapter 3 and return to here to burn it.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

Secret of Secrets

This mystery puzzle is also relatively easy compared to some hard puzzles later. We recommend you to start with only a few hints.

Chapter 2: The VaticanChapter 2: The VaticanChapter 2: The VaticanChapter 2: The Vatican

Self Question: So we know its a simple one-to-one matching, but which one is first: Saint Paul vs Saint Peter and why is it?

Chapter 2: The Vatican

The answer code is: 4471
The reward book is not recommended as its description is vague. A book that adds one more health bar would be much more valuable than this.

Chapter 2: The VaticanChapter 2: The Vatican

This dragon is indeed important, but it cant be activated with one person. Actually, this dragon is a part of the main quest puzzle.
Lets just forget it for now and come back later.

Chapter 2: The Vatican

This man will give you A Savage Discovery quest that requires you to go to the jail in Fascist barracks to rescue his son, Sidney. And this quest seems very important as not doing this quest will not unlock subsequent quests in later chapters, preventing you from getting some important items that are needed for 100% achievements.

Chapter 2: The VaticanChapter 2: The VaticanChapter 2: The Vatican

In the barracks, the jail is on the 1st floor. The key is nearby. Note that you can only open the jail door if you have the active quest: A Savage Discovery
